Steel Giant - Frankrijk.
Verlaten staalfabriek in Frankrijk. Het oktoberlicht laat het staal van de hoogoven voor een laatste maal gloeien.
Jan Stel vroeg geen toestemming om er te fotograferen. Dan zou hij nooit zo hoog hebben mogen klimmen.

Zeche Hugo - Duitsland.
Dit is de kleedruimte van de kolenmijn Zeche Hugo in Gelsenkirchen. In de mandjes gingen de persoonlijke bezittingen van de mijnwerkers naar boven.
Zeche Hugo ging in 2000 dicht, waarbij een deel van de mijn omgezet is naar een museum.

Cooling Tower - België (links).
Ooit stroomde hier 1,8 miljoen liter heet water per minuut, om te koelen aan de wind. Tot Greenpeace protesteerde.
De koeltoren bevind zich in een zwaar industrieel terrein nabij Charleroi.

Le Gazometre - Frankrijk (rechts).
Dit is een grote metalen ton waarin zuurstof en licht schaars is. Als je last hebt van claustrofobie of hoogtevrees dan is dit je ultieme uitdaging.
Maar opgelet, ga er niet in!

ABANDONED PLACES
